Successful struggle for Pastor Joo and "Man of Vendetta"

"Man of Vendetta" concluded its first week run in Korean box office with almost 600,000 viewers, earning an estimated 4.3 billion KRW (3.6 million US dollars).

According to figures released by Korea's Nationwide Computerized Box Office Data System (KOBIS), "Man of Vendetta" sold a total of 573,222 tickets for the period of July 1 - 7. The movie took the 4th place, battling with kwon Sang-woo's Korean war movie "71-Into the Fire" that claimed the number 3 spot. Both got 16.5% in audience share.

KOBIS figures also showed that Korean audience favor Hollywood movies which dominate the top 10 ranking for the period. Shrek Forever After, the fourth and final installment in the blockbuster Shrek film series claimed the top spot with 26.4 % audience share, followed by Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz action-comedy film Knight and Day at 19.3%. Korean historical movie "The Servant", in its 5th week run, finished in 5th place with 5.5%.

Other movies in the top 10 are The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (US), Splice (US), I Love You Philip Morris (US), "Barefoot Dream" (Korea), and The A-Team (US).

"Man of Vendetta" follows Joo Young Soo (Kim Myung-min) as a well-respected pastor whose life makes a 180 degrees turn when his 5-year-old daughter is kidnapped by a psychopath (Uhm Ki-joon). The movie was written and directed by Woo Min-ho, and produced by iFilm and I Love Cinema.
