YG Entertainment said the rapper, whose real name is Choi Seung-hyun, was found unconscious after taking anti-depressants in the barracks of the police unit where he has been conscripted to serve.

The incident occurred a day after he was indicted for smoking marijuana. A police officer said, "He is going through a lot personally so we let him take a rest".

T.O.P is accused of smoking marijuana on four occasions with a 21-year-old woman identified as Han at his home in Seoul in October of last year. Han is an aspiring singer.

He has been serving his mandatory military service with the police band since February but was transferred to a different division following his indictment.

Police said T.O.P. had been taking prescription drugs to treat his depression. "It looks like he took more medication than usual", the officer said. "He should be able to return to normal condition in a few days".

If he is sentenced to more than a year and six months in prison, he will be dishonorably discharged from the police. If not, he will be able to continue his remaining military service with the same duties or somewhere else.
