Teenage Acoustic Girl Band Debut on TV

Korea's first acoustic girl group SpinEL made their debut on Friday night. SpinEL consists of Spin and EL, two middle school girls born in 1996, who plan to perform in a variety of genres inspired by country music. Both sing and strum the guitar.
Spin is a versatile musician with top grades in school, and has already featured on a number of singles since 2003. EL has been an actress since childhood, with an impressive career in films, TV dramas and musicals.
Inspired by the name of a gem, spinel, the group aims to be a "jewel" in the music industry. The girls' agency is confident about their prospects, saying in a press release, "At the time when people long for talented musicians, SpinEL will be the only group that combines great musical talents with the features of idol groups".
The two debuted with their first single "Chu Chu" on KBS' "Music Bank" on Friday.
