The 24th Vancouver International Film Festival to invite Korean movie 'Texture of Skin' directed by Lee Seong-gang

Following the Moscow Film Festival to be helf from 17 to 26 June this year, Korean film director Lee Seong-gang's movie 'Texture of Skin' is invited to The Dragons and Tigers Award for Young Cinema of the 24th Vancouver International Film Festival, which will be held from Sep. 30 through Oct. 5 in Canada.

His first bold attempt 'My Beautiful Girl, Mari' at a full-length feature has been rewarded with an invitation to compete in the Feature Film category at the 2002 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France.

His new movie 'Texture of Skin' is portraying a story in which a promising photographer Min-woo ran into his ex-lover, Jae-hee. Jae-hee proposes secret love affair although she is married. They meet every day.

Once Min-woo witnesses a runaway car accident.watching its victim die in his hands. In the afternoon Min-woo at the climax of love scene with Jae-hee is haunted by the phantom of a girl. From then on she starts pursuing Min-woo for hours on end.

The festival's purpose is to encourage the understanding of other nations through the art of cinema, to foster the art of cinema, to facilitate the meeting in British Columbia of cinema professionals from around the world, and to stimulate the motion picture industry in British Columbia and Canada.

Dragons and Tigers: The Movies of East Asia? the largest annual exhibition of East Asian films outside Asia; 95 films were in the program last year, including one world premiere, 21 international premieres, 18 North American premieres, 11 Canadian premieres, and two English-Canadian premieres.

The Vancouver International Film Festival wrapped its 23rd edition on October 8, last year. The festival was an extraordinary success last year. For the first time, the not-for-profit festival reached the $1 million mark in box-office.

The festival also surpassed the 150,000 attendance mark, reached for the first time in 2002. In all there were 537 public screenings for a total of 373 films including 247 features and mid-lengths, of which there were 7 world premieres, 32 international premieres, 34 North American premieres, 58 Canadian premieres and 25 English-Canadian premieres.
