"The Host" also enjoyed a fairly successful opening weekend in the US, especially when taking into account that the film was shown on a modest 71 screens. When looking at the performance of films based on the earnings per screen, The Host came in eighth. Bong Joon-ho's film ranked 23rd with a revenue of US$ 320,000 over the weekend. The US distributor is Magnolia Pictures.

Kim Ki-duk's 2003 "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... And Spring" is the most successful Korean film in the US. The film was released in US cinemas in 2004 and went on to accumulate US$ 2.38 million.
