As yet more proof of the Korean film industry's growing presence in the international arena, the domestic blockbuster "The King and the Clown" by director Lee Joon-ik has won an award at the 9th Deauville Asian Film Festival in France.
The movie, depicting the relationship between two male clowns during the Joseon Dynasty, received a thumbs-up from the judges at the French film gala this past weekend.
Also Director Lee Yoon-ki's "Ad-Lib Night" won the movie critics' award.
Since its launch in 1999, the Deauville festival has become one of the biggest Asian film festivals in Europe.
