This Winter's Heaviest Snowfall Blankets Korea

Heavy snow fell in the Seoul metropolitan area on Sunday, the first time this winter that it snowed enough to prompt an alert. But the Korea Meteorological Administration said it will abate on Monday afternoon.

A heavy-snow alert was issued in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province on Sunday, while advisories were issued in Seoul, surrounding Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province and Jeju Island.   

Morning lows on Monday dipped to -6 degrees Celsius in Seoul, -5 degrees in Incheon, -6 degrees in Chuncheon, -2 degrees in Dajeon and 0 degrees in Busan.

Daytime highs will remain at -4 degrees in Seoul and frigid throughout the country.
