Three more entertainers suspected of drug use

The prosecution said Wednesday it was investigating three more entertainers - two females and one male - on suspicions of using illegal drugs, but refused to identify them.

The announcement came amid a widening investigation into drug use by entertainers following the arrest of actor Kim Sung-min and comedian Jeon Chang-gul.

Singer Crown J, whose real name is Kim Kye-hoon, was confirmed to have smoked marijuana in the U.S. between May 2009 and October this year, but he has yet to been detained.

The prosecution said the three additional suspects are unaware of the investigation targeting them. A prosecutor familiar with the case said they will be summoned for questioning after investigators collect concrete evidence against them.

"They are suspected of having used banned drugs with other people", the prosecutor said.

Some observers say this is the beginning of a crackdown on drug-taking celebrities. Backing the scenario is that actor Kim, who was arrested early this month, disclosed a list of ten entertainers who took illegal drugs habitually.
