It's been a while since actor Kim Dong-wook came back. It's been 3 years since "The Concubine". This time he's back with "Three Summer Nights".

"Three Summer Nights" is about three friends Myeong-seok (Kim Dong-wook), Dal-soo (Im Won-hee) and Hae-goo (Son Ho-jun) who leave to Haeundae on a trip but wake up to be chased down by gangsters, their girlfriends and the police. Kim Dong-wook lays Cha Myeong-seok, a bar exam student who is sick and tired of his girlfriend.

"This is the first movie since my discharge. I had a thirst for movies mentally. I am still uncomfortable with TV shows just yet so I would like to do something that I can take my time to think about".

That's how he chose "Three Summer Nights" which is directed by Kim Sang-jin from "Attack the Gas Station!", and "Kick the Moon".

"I had my expectations for the director. I watched everything of his. I grew up watching them and I know he's the best when it comes to comedy".

He joined forces with Im Won-hee and he did his best because he chose it. Cha Myeong-seok turned out to be a character who held down the center of the movie.

"I always say this but I do my best in everything despite what happens to the movie. I did it without regret and I hope people watch it without prejudice".

Kim Dong-wook decided to get down and dirty for this comedy. He got made-up as an African native and played with fire and even put on a bikini for a dreamy scene.

"There is a little bit of retro in the movie. Isn't that appealing? It's all about being well-made these days. I thought this kind of comedy was a good new approach".

The synergy with Im Won-hee and Son Ho-jun was great. Starring as friends with Im Won-hee who is actually 13 years older than Kim Dong-wook and Son Ho-jun was 'fun'. There was worry that he might not seem like a "Friend" but the movie makes them look like friends indeed.

"We weren't a pressure to each other. We weren't pressurized by the fact that we had to be funny. We knew each other well so we didn't need to break the ice or anything on the set".

Kim Dong-wook's time spent at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency brought along a lot of change.

"I found out what I should keep or throw away while I act. I learned to listen and communicated with people. I have thoughts about how to think and resolve. I was stressed before, but I realized that wasn't all. It's not like my answer was the answer and things can't always be on the sunny side. The same goes for this movie. I learned to let go and communicate with people".
