The "Chuseok" weekend is just around the corner and both major and cable broadcasters have prepared various programs for friends and family to enjoy.

Special Programs

KBS is traveling back in history to explore the ancient boat that carried celadon porcelain a thousand years ago with their special program "Goryeo Celadon Porcelain; Temptation of Green Celadon". The program searches for the ancient route the famous porcelain traveled, along with the reason why it was so popular in China and Japan. "Goryeo" will air Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. on KBS.

"A Lecture from Heaven" will feature violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill's trip to a small village in South Chungcheong Province. The students live in a small village where it is hard to visit even a museum, let alone a music concert. O'Neill teaches them the basics of classical music and holds a small concert with them. "A Lecture From Heaven" will air Oct. 2 at 11:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, SBS is offering "Tasting Japan", a culinary journey to the neighboring country with hostess Jo Hye-ryun. SBS visited the area to figure out the charm of Japanese food that has attracted the taste buds of the world. Comedienne Cho, who is also a well-known celebrity in Japan, takes viewers to the narrow streets of a Japanese market, famous restaurants and even a food theme park. "Tasting Japan" airs Oct. 2 at 9:20 a.m. on MBC.

English channel Arirang TV will also give viewers a special version of "Arirang Today" during the holidays. Starting on Oct. 2 at 7 a.m., the show will be divided into four different categories: Chuseok, Hopeful Chuseok, Mulitcultural Families Enjoying Chuseok and Traditional Activities. The program will explain the overall meaning and concept of the holiday, also known as the Korean version of Thanksgiving. From making food to properly wearing hanbok, "Arirang Today" will be the perfect way to learn about Chuseok.

SBS' popular program "TV Animal Farm" has been following the works of the animal psychic Heidi Wright for the past seven months, and now the program makers are returning to the homes of the pets who have shared their feelings with Wright to see if they, and their owners, have changed. The show will air Oct. 2 at 8:45 p.m. on SBS.

Boy group Super Junior will appear as Girls' Generation and ballad group 2AM into girl group Kara, while Kara will stand on stage as the Wonder Girls. Watch the singers show off their talents with the program that will air Oct. 4 at 7:35 p.m. on SBS.
