[TV Program] New President of the Korea Broadcast Content Export Association Elected

The Korea Creative Content Agency (President & CEO Lee Jae-woong) announced that it held a Regular Meeting for the Korea Broadcast Content Export Association at the 14th Floor Conference Room of the Sangam-dong Culture Contents Center last week. During the meeting, Yi Sang-ok, Director of the Overseas Business Team of MBC, was elected as the new president of the association.


Yi Sang-ok said, "The role of the person responsible for the overseas distribution of content is becoming increasingly important. The Korea Broadcast Content Export Association will strengthen its basis and promote its competitiveness while devoting itself to the development of new fields".

President Yi Sang-ok will strive to secure actual support from the government to increase the export of broadcast contents, conduct research and gather information relevant to Hallyu (the Korean Wave) business, share information on export through workshops and seminars, and establish order of overseas distribution and increase expertise in it for broadcast contents.

As an organization for public-private partnership, the 'Korea Broadcast Content Export Association' was established to promote the export of Korean broadcast contents in a fundamental way. It is run by the Korea Creative Content Agency with the support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. KOCCA gathers the opinions of private member companies and provides policy suggestions.

It also supports the advancement of the Korean broadcast content industry into the overseas market and the active distribution of the broadcast content industry.

The Korea Broadcast Content Export Association will promote various activities such as the followings: discussions on how to increase the export of broadcast contents and hosting of Broadcast Worldwide and the operation of a Korean pavilion within the exhibition, projects to improve the production of broadcast contents, cooperation with international organizations relevant to exporting broadcast contents, and policy suggestions to the government to increase the export of broadcast contents.

The association was established in 1999 and currently has more than 20 member companies including KBS Media, MBC, SBS Contents Hub, EBS, the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation( Arirang TV), Mnet, CJ Media, On Media, Korea Independent Productions Association (KIPA), Every Show, Kenny & Co, Group8, Creo Contents, AK Entertainment, United Media, Daehan Mediaworld, Regional Private Broadcasting Stations Association, and Coin Media.
