[TV Program] Tears of the Amazon Maintains 20% Viewer Rating for Two Consecutive Weeks

MBC's premium documentary "Tears of the Amazon" has maintained a 20% viewer rating for two consecutive weeks.

Part I of the documentary, The Last Primitive Land aired on January 8, recorded a 22.5% rating according to a nationwide survey conducted by TNS Media Korea. The rating for Part II, Disappearing Tears, broadcast on January 15, was also high at 20.2%.

The documentary ranked 3rd among the programs aired on major TV networks on the day, following KBS's "Jolly Widows" and MBC's "High Kick Through The Roof". Its high rating is particularly impressive, given that the other two programs with higher ratings were both dramas.

It easily surpassed SBS's Star Couple Show (9.3%) and KBS 2 TV's Invincible Youth (11.4%), both of which were broadcast at around 11 pm on Friday night.

"Tears of the Amazon" is the second of three-part series made by MBC to reveal uncomfortable truths about global warming and its destructive effects on the environment. It is a mega budget series, costing over 1 billion won. KORPA (Korea Radio Promotion Agency) provided support for the production.
