2016/03/26 | Permalink

Here are some webtoons that bring fashion to the forefront and allow you to see k-fashion inspired looks from both the past and the present within their amazing stories!

Cat and Dog by Hee-Jung Park

The love story involving an arranged marriage between a young country girl and a tortured actor offers a nice bridge between the past and the present through its fashion choices. There is a nice mix of traditional Korean clothing and contemporary fashion at play as their very different worlds collide.

My Beautiful World by Maru

The main protagonist of this webtoon is a college student named Yurim who has the ability to see the evil in people. She falls in love with a man named June, who always seems to be there to save her from the world around her. Her fashion sense is cute and girly and definitely emblematic of current k-fashion trends. This webtoon is a very pretty read and the fashion within it definitely plays an important part in adding to the romantic feel of the story.

To Stand on One Leg by Nasty Cat

This is the story of an extremely skilled one-legged swordsman who is out for revenge and his relationship with a princess who falls in love with him.  Set in the past, it relies heavily on fashion to set the time period for the story. It creates a rather gritty atmosphere for readers to enjoy alongside the action-packed narrative.

Twelfth Night by Muryu

Twelfth Night is a story of revenge, hidden identities, greed and love that takes place within the political realm during the Joseon dynasty. The historically-inspired fashion within this webtoon is drawn with detail and saturated with color so that the readers are pulled into the story world even further. The emotional tale will leave you breathless.

Monster Idols by Won-Sik Lee and Min Hong

Fashion is very important in this webtoon, which is about a stylist who tries to turn a popular boy band comprised of supernatural creatures into fashion icons so that they can become human for good. Using this k-pop world as a backdrop, the style within this webtoon is chic and stylish and will give you a glimpse into stardom!
