Thursday, January 27 is certainly a New Year's treat for comedy movie fans in Korea! In addition to the screening of Kim Myung-min's comedy-mystery film, "Detective K", period movie "Battlefield Heroes" and Hollywood's Gulliver's Travels will also premiere on the same day.

Director Lee Joong-ik's "Battlefield Heroes" is the sequel to "Hwangsanbul", a movie that drew 3 million moviegoers in 2003. It stars Jung Jin-young ("Dong Yi", MBC 2010; "The King and the Clown", 2005) and Ryu Seung-ryong ("IRIS", KBS 2009; "Blades of Blood", 2010).

Gulliver's Travels is the film adaptation of classic English novel of the same title, and it stars funnyman Jack Black as the lead. It was first released in the United States in December 25, 2010 and has been enjoying worldwide success so far.

Meanwhile, "Detective K" features Kim Myung-min in his first comedic role in the silver screen. The audience will witness his transformation from the usually serious character to an endearing genius detective who is awkward in daily life but very capable in his work. Watch how his character gets badly smitten by the femme fatale played by Han Ji-min! Oh Dal-soo co-stars as the detective's trusted sidekick.

With these three comedy movies released in the same day, will "Detective K" stand a chance for the top spot? What do you think? Let's find out soon!
