The late actress Jang Jin-yeong was confirmed to have wed a month ago, registering the marriage four days prior to her death, her management agency Yedang Entertainment said Wednesday.

The 35-year-old, who died of stomach cancer Tuesday, and her husband, identified only by his surname Kim, wed in Las Vegas in July, said Kim An-cheol, the public relations manager at Yedang, in a briefing Wednesday at Asan Medical Center, southern Seoul. Kim submitted their marriage registration to the Seongbok-gu Office on Aug. 28, he said.

The manager said that "the couple leaned on each other even through the taxing battle against cancer, and never let go of each other's hands until the very end".

Wang Bit-na gave birth to her first child Tuesday morning.

The popular TV star, best known for her appearances in SBS-TV's "Love in Heaven", and KBS-TV's "Hwangjin-i", tied the knot with professional golfer Jung Seung-woo two years ago.

Wang delivered a healthy baby boy weighing 3.5 kilograms (7.7 pounds).

Although the baby was born two or three days later than expected, both Wang and the newborn are said to be in good shape.

But fans will be disappointed to hear that the actress will not be appearing on screen for quite some time to come. The 28-year-old is not planning to return to acting in the near future, according to her management company Pan Entertainment.

Are family dramas' glory days over?

Gone are the days of Sunday night soaps and romantic comedies, as what appeared to be a blip in the SBS weekend drama line-up turns out to be something of a trend.

The highly popular family-oriented series "First Wives' Club" signaled a shift from the usual syrupy romances that SBS used to churn out. The result was a huge success.

Ending on a high note last Sunday with nationwide viewer ratings of 40.2 percent (AGB Nielsen Media Research), the hit SBS drama revealed an untapped market.

But will SBS' winning streak continue? The major broadcasting channel is willing to test the waters with yet another family drama. Starting tomorrow night, the new weekend series -- titled "Glory of the Family" -- explores the tangled and less than perfect lives of the illustrious Ha family. Centered on the filial granddaughter of the household Ha Dan-ah, played by Yoon Jeong-hee, and her twin brothers, this drama is significantly weightier and more traditional than its predecessor.

Rarely does a weekend family drama make the splash that KBS' "Mom's Dead Upset" did. The hit series ended with a bang last Sunday, garnering viewer ratings of 39.7 percent nationwide, according to AGB Nielsen Media research.

Hoping to continue their winning streak, KBS is following it up with a light and comic romance about a radio producer and a disc jockey.

Celebrities Kim Sung-soo and Lee Tae-ran will be playing the title roles. Actor Kim, 35, stars as a has-been pop singer who takes a job as a radio disc jockey. Actress Lee Tae-ran, 33, plays the domineering co-worker who bickers her way into his heart.

Co-star Park Hae-mi, however, expressed reservations about the decidedly more youthful bent of the upcoming family drama -- titled "My Precious You" -- at the press conference on Tuesday. Lawyers vie for top spot in drama line-up

Though the tagline for MBC's new Wednesday and Thursday night miniseries "The Lawyers of The Great Republic Korea" is "Love versus money", with two superhero dramas out right now, it should really read, "superheroes versus lawyers".

Following on the heels of the abysmal drama on reporters, "Spotlight", which ended on a sour note last Thursday, this romantic comedy will need more than a few lawyers to compete SBS' with "Iljimae".

The star power of Lee Joon-ki as a Joseon Dynasty superhero in the hit SBS drama has swept viewer ratings nationwide. And celebrities Lee Seong-jae and Lee Soo-kyeong will need to showcase some stellar acting and flawless comic timing in order to nab audiences in "Daehanminguk Byeonhosa" ("The Lawyers of The Great Republic Korea").
