The city of Florence in Italy is currently playing host to 30 Korean films. The eighth edition of the Florence Korean Film Festival takes place this year from March 12-20. The festival, supported by various local groups, KOFIC and the Korean Ministry of Culture and Tourism, shows mostly European and Italian premieres of new Korean films. This year the festival is comprised of a K-Horror section, the competitive Orizzonti Coreani section, the Independent Korea section (also competitive) and a retrospective on director HEO Jin-ho.
Given the notable status of the horror genre in Korea, the festival is screening seven horror films, to be presented by famed Italian director Dario Argento. The section includes KIM Seong-ho's "Into the Mirror" (2003), LIM Pil-seong's "Antarctic Journal" (2005), PARK Ki-hyeong's "Whispering Corridors" (1998) and "Acacia" (2003). Film focuses on her possible love affair
Empress Myeongseong of the Joseon Dynasty is one of the most talked-about figures in Korean history due to her extraordinary life, which was highlighted by political ambition and tragic death.
So it's no wonder that she's been at the center of various productions such as the acclaimed musical "The Last Empress" and the 2001 hit TV series "Empress Myeongseong".
A new film to be released late next month is tackling her story again, with a twist.
The movie, called "The Sword with No Name", examines the life of the empress through the lens of a love affair between her and a bodyguard.
"The productions depicting the life of Empress Myeongseong so far have shown the charismatic side of her, but I think there must have been a soft side to her, because she was a woman after all", Kim Mi-hee, the producer of the film, said during a press conference Tuesday.
"In the film, we focused on the more personal aspects of the life of the empres... |More

| Hear the soundtrack to your life: JIMFF (Source) |

People say good-looking actors and actresses are the heart and soul of movies. But it's not quite correct. Movie stars are not the only ones to win the love and acclaim of movie fans. The music played in the movie is also another undeniable factor that captures the hearts of movie-lovers.
Perhaps most people have at least one movie soundtrack in their CD collection. A movie without music is like a flower without its scent.
For those who love movie soundtracks, the fifth annual Jecheon International Music and Film Festival (http://www.jimff.org/) can fulfill their desire for both movies and music this August.
On the shores of Cheongpung Lake, located in the city of Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do (North Chungcheong Province), 89 films from 35 countries on the theme of music or musicians will be screened at Jecheon International Music and Film Festival for six days from Aug. 13.
The opening film is "The Soloist" by Joe Wright, who also made "Pride & Prejudice" (2005) and "Atonemen... |More
