The local film "Old Boy" won the grand prize of the jury at the 57th Cannes Film Festival in May. Now, the makers behind the film are set to be honored by the government for their achievement.

Chung Dong-chae, minister of Culture and Tourism, will present Park Chan-wook, director of "Old Boy", with the Bo-Gwan Order of Culture Merit, the third highest award of its kind, on July 30 at the minister's office.

Also during the ceremony, the film's main actor, Choi Min-sik, and producer Kim Dong-joo will each receive the Og-Gwan Order of Culture Merit, which is one level lower than the Bo-Gwan.

Based on a Japanese comic book, the film revolves around a man looking for revenge after being kidnapped and incarcerated in a hotel room for 15 years without knowing the reason.

Park is well known for his previous movies like the 2000 blockbuster "JSA -Joint Security Area" and the 2002 drama "Poksu-nun Na-ui Kot (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance)". Choi is currently filming his next movie "Kkotpinun Pomiomyon ("Springtime")", a story about a trumpeter.
