Chang's success story will be aired at 6:30 p.m. on Friday (Korean time). He will talk about how he and his wife Jin-sook grew a small clothing store with annual sales of US$30,000 into a sprawling retail empire with 500 branches worldwide, including ones in the U.S., Britain and Japan. Some 28 years after he launched the business, he now has 40,000 employees and reaps annual sales of $3.4 billion.

The Changs were ranked 38th on Forbes list of the world's most powerful couples in July last year. They were also the only Korean-Americans on the list. At the time, Forbes valued their property holdings at $3.6 billion, and they placed 88th among the 400 richest couples in the U.S.

Jin-sook was named the 39th most powerful woman in the world by the magazine that same year.
