[HanCinema's News] Drama Ratings Continue to Slump for JTBC Going into 2022

With ratings of .58% "The One and Only" is the latest jTBC drama to plunge underneath the 1% ratings mark for dramas. This caps off a fairly bleak year for the cable network, which has had far more misses than hits. Even a program like "Snowdrop" which had ratings of 2.75% on December 26th is being buoyed by unenviable controversies such as allegations that it is either right-wing or pro-Chinese propaganda.

"Nevertheless" is perhaps the only real success story for jTBC this year yet it is rather tellingly far better known for its international run on Netflix than for being a hit in domestic ratings. The romantic drama only achieved ratings above 2% in its first episode, and closed with a lackluster 1.74%. Yet even that story is a far side better than "IDOL: The Coup" which had ratings of .58% for its final episode which aired on December 14th.

"Inspector Koo" had a less disastrous run managing to end with ratings of 2.31% on December 12th. "Lost" started with 4.19% ratings only to tumble down to ratings of 2.44% in its final episode on October 24th. This year has been a fary cry from last year's huge hits of "Itaewon Class" and "The World of the Married" for jTBC. Now the network can only hope that next year's "Thirty Nine" with Son Ye-jin and "Reborn Rich" with Song Joong-ki will spark a turnaround.
