[HanCinema's News] Yonghi Yang wins Grand Prize at 1st Korea Arthouse Cinema Association Awards

Yonghi Yang emerged as the big winner of the first ever Korea Arthouse Cinema Association Awards this past March 3rd with her earning the Grand Prize at that event. The director of last year's biographical "Soup and Ideology" was honored not just for that film, but also her significant past work "Goodbye, Pyeongyang" which showed a personal look at North Korean society. The event was held at the Panta Garage in Seoul, and voted on by persons in South Korea's indendent film industry.

The Best Film award went to "Kim-Min-young of the Report Card" which deals with teenagers in a poetry club. The Best Director award went to Hong Sang-soo, who released both "The Novelist's Film" and "Walk Up" earlier this year. Yang Mal-bok of "The Apartment With Two Women" won for Best Performer. Lastly, "Decision to Leave" won the Spectator Award, having performed the best on a ballot conducted between February 20th and February 26th with 1,252 submissions.
