Actress Park So-dam who starred in the movie "The Priests" as a evil possessed high school student, had an interview with News N and looked back on her past year with "Veteran", "The Throne" and "The Priests".

Park So-dam is a graduate of the Korea National University of Arts and she's unique looking with no double eyelids. She's always being compared with others her age but through "The Priests" she's made a strong impression with her name. She continued to star in hit movies and a year later, she's one of the most favorable rookies there is.

"Everyone makes it seem like I been making a lot of benefits with these major movies but I actually failed a lot of auditions. There's not one audition I didn't go for if it was a role I could play at my age last year. I was devastated every time I failed and I was depressed. Then I passed "Veteran". I didn't have any lines but I was happy that I could be in something".

The one who chose Park So-dam was producer Ryoo Seung-wan of "Veteran". She played a young and newly debuting actress in the movie and Ryoo asked So-dam to do it. He also said she had a face like a canvas. "I was so grateful when he said he wanted to create an appealing image of my face".

"At first I was a clear-faced girl who eventually became addicted to drugs and wore heavy make-up. It was a dramatic role but I didn't have any lines. The producer gave me chance to work with other actors and actresses and I was so grateful. Then I auditioned for "The Throne" and I was so nervous but as soon as I walked in the director said, "You are the eyes of Joseon!" Everyone laughed and so did I".

Producers Ryoo Seung-wan and Lee Joon-ik were holics of Park So-dam's image from the beginning and they were sure they needed her for their movies. The same goes for producer Lee Hae-yeong from "The Silenced". Park So-dam said, "I am grateful how they appreciated my small eyes and simple face".

""The Priests" was a little different. I acted freely in the first round then acted as Yeong-sin in the second round, but I had received a script for the first time during the audition. I wondered what I should do and I think I made sounds of a lion crying and a dog barking for 6~7 minutes in front of people I just met. The third round was saying lines in a foreign language. I barely passed and when Yeong-sin became mine, there was the problem of having to make something out of nothing. It was an endless time for me".

It might seem like she started acting from a young age but Park So-dam was an ordinary student in an ordinary humanity course high school. She was ordinary until she was 18 when she decided to become an actress after watching "Grease". "The actors and actresses singing and dancing on stage couldn't have looked happier. I wanted to stand on stage then and started attending acting lessons".

"I was lucky to have been accepted into the Korea University of National Arts but until then, all actresses had to have big eyes and had to be 'pretty'. So I only dreamt of musicals and theaters and never thought I'd be in front of a camera. I wasn't sure of myself".

"Then the Institution of Image saw my graduation pictured and rang me up. They told me they wanted a face which could perform various characters. I was able to star in independence movies from then and that was when I first saw what a 'movie' was. If I had started with something bigger, I wouldn't have able to survived it".

We asked her how happy she was with her appearance and she said, "When I started acting, I didn't think I was pretty but unique. No one can follow the way I look, not even plastic surgery. I might have lost some weight lately so some say my face looks slimmer. It could be the baby fat".

"I don't plan on getting plastic surgery. I don't want to face a wall because of my looks. I want to be an actress who is an issue for her performance and not her looks".

"The Priests" is a mysterious movie about two priests saving a girl in danger. The movie is currently on a roll and about to break through 5 million views.
