Korean Parents Spend Nearly $2.8 Bil. on Private Education for Infants & Toddlers Each Year

Korean parents with young children are spending more money than ever on private education.
A new report by the Korea Institute for Child Care and Education shows that parents spend nearly 3 trillion won, or 2.8 billion U.S. dollars, on private education for infants and toddlers every year.
That's roughly 2.2 percent of the nation's GDP.
It includes spending on extracurricular activities, English lessons and home-study materials.
The national research institute data says parents are reaching into their pockets more often to pay for private education because many of them are not satisfied with the services that public facilities offer.
