Koreans Drink an Average of 1.7 Cups of Coffee a Day

Korean adults drink an average of 1.7 cups of coffee a day, according to 2014 health and nutrition data by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The data, based on a survey of 3,417 men and women aged between 19 and 64, shows men drink coffee 14.3 times a week on average and women 9.6 times. This translates to 1.7 cups of coffee a day.

Coffee is consumed more than rice (6.52 times a week) and mixed grains (8.93 times).

The largest proportion of people, or 24.4 percent, drink three cups of coffee a day, followed by two cups (23 percent) and one cup (18.7 percent).

Only 12 percent of people do not drink coffee at all.
